     Meet Voriconazole and Victory...

The bay coloured foal is named "Victory". After the dream that each child stricken with cancer will win the battle and live a full life. The Chestnut Foal is named "Voriconazole" (vor-con-a-zol) in honour of the drug that saved Elexis's life and continues to save other children fighting  cancer.

Elexis was re-diagnosed with cancer December 24th 2003. The drug treatment for re-diagnosed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is markedly more extreme the second time around.  Elexis developed a fungal infection and the fight against cancer was postponed for the was against the life threatening infection ravaging her body.  All the regular treatment against this infection did not work and an experimental drug was procured by the doctors of the Stollery Children's Hospital from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals of Paris, France to be used for the first time in Canada. Elexis was lying in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit  P.I.C.U. in a private room with a nurse at her bedside attending to her 24-7, fighting for her life, when on March 4th 2004 at 12.00 noon the first dose of Voriconazole was administered  I.V. This miraculous experimental drug saved Elexis and gave her the ability to continue her cancer battle.  These Foals are named in the honour of the drug and the miracle of the human spirit!
